12 Ways of How to Divide a Room into Two Zones
Partitions, curtains, decor, light – with the help of all this you can visually divide a room into two zones. We talk about popular techniques and share options for interiors.
Division of a room by a partition is one of the most popular ways of zoning. In fact, in this way you designate a wall, but do not erect it.
The partitions can be low, transparent or openwork.
A functional alternative to the partition is the rack. It can occupy an impressive area and can be narrow or low.
3. THE HOLE
The room, divided into two parts by a hole, is also an excellent solution. In the back of the room, you can place a sleeping or work area.
The hole can be left empty or equipped with sliding doors – as you wish.
In the niches often organize a sleeping area. Reception can be used in the nursery, where it is necessary to organize another workplace, or in a studio apartment, where there is simply no room for a separate bedroom.
Suitable as a ready-made niche in the room, and made by yourself, using a partition.
Another popular solution for the zoning of beds – curtains. They can be curtained and the bed in the niche, and a separate bed. During the reception of guests and at night the sleeper can be curtained, at the rest of the time to keep open.
The zone, transferred to the podium, already seems to be a separate space. But you can supplement the zoning with a color or even a septum to enhance the visual effect.
Traditionally on the catwalk, there is a sleeping place (usually with storage places) and a working area. Although there you can equip and a gaming, and a library, and even a dining room.
Select zones with different colors – smart design move. However, you need to think about the right combination of shades, so that the interior looks whole and harmonious.
Color is also a good use for the design of the accent wall in one of the zones. See how the designers coped with this task for zoning the bedroom and the kitchen.
8. WALL DECORATION
“Wall” zoning is not limited to color – you can safely use for this purpose, and decor.
In this case, the living room area was designated as wallpaper with a geometric ornament, and the bedroom was highlighted with an original lamp. Color, however, also used a little – but not on the walls, but in textiles.
It is known that the back of the sofa can already separate one zone from the other. This method is often used in the kitchen-living room.
More non-standard solutions are also acceptable. For example, in this room, the desktop “continued” on the wall and ceiling and thus delineated the boundary of the two zones.
And in this studio space, the dining table was inscribed in a frame. It turned out a kind of partition.
Considered light scenarios are not only a guarantee of a comfortable life but also an intelligent reception of zoning.
Try to choose to light for different zones. For example, here in the living room they put a floor lamp, suspensions were placed over the dining area, and the kitchen was accented with a light-emitting diode tape.
Another option – the working area was designated as a suspension, and the bedside table lamps were placed.
11. THE CARPET
The carpet is often combined with a sofa group and outlines the living room area. In this example, the colors are correctly chosen: the shades of the carpet are combined with the bed linen. As a result, the living room area is separated from the bedroom, but there is no dissonance in the design.
You can use several carpets for zoning. For example, put the same in different zones, as in the photo below.
12. MISCELLANEOUS FLOORING
We often see this technique in the projects of hallways and kitchen-living rooms: in a more “mark” zone lay a washable tile, for the rest of the space use wood or imitating materials.
However, this version of zoning can be used in other rooms. So, in this bathroom, with the help of floor covering, even three zones were delineated: wet marked with tile, the rest space with wood, and in the place of rest an extra carpet was placed.
