If you are looking for a historical heroine to connect with then you need to check out Talia, in A Dream of Desire. Why did I connect with Talia, because she is smart and despite having both social and romantic obstacles in her way she does not fold in on herself to give up. She is the type of gal who dusts herself off, picks herself up and gets on with the program. Rowan paints, not a very pretty picture of the hardships of those offenders.

Dreams of desire

The book is historical accurate, and I do wish Rowan would have delved deeper into the punishment that those juvenile offenders suffered at the hand of the authorities. The book is not about heart and flowers, but what Talia experiences trying to reform a system long beyond its expiration date.

He and his sister have a nice subplot in the book. She is they type of writer that leaves no stone unturned in the readers imagination.

The reformation of the juvenile offenders is what adds to the suspense quality of the book. Plus, I had to love Peter he is dyslexic. Now why you should read this book as a romance.

The story of Talia and James is superbly told. It is a girl loves boy and boy is clueless and even if you hit him over the head with a cast iron pan he would remain clueless. You see James is of course a titled man of the british ton, but he is also an explorer.

Plus he has never seen her as anything but his best friends sister. The two characters baggage is not of their own making but it has impacted who they are. At heart this book is a love story but it has quite a bit of suspense mixed in, which make it a really enjoyable read. A lovely, sweet, delight of a read, A Dream of Desire was a wonderful historical romance. I really liked this book. From the sweet romance, to the thrills of danger, and a glimpse into the darker side of London, this book was fantastic. Loved it! Talia was a wonderful heroine.

I liked how, rather than moping around over a rejection, she picked up her life and made something out of it through her charity works and she was determined to see it through, even if it did bring her into danger. I really liked her. I thought she was lovely. James was also wonderful.

He was very sweet and loyal to his loved ones. I loved the way he acted with Talia, when he wasn't deliberately putting his walls up. My one issue with his was that it was frustrating how he was so hung up on leaving London, and he used that as an excuse to push everyone away. And, a couple of times, he acted like an idiot in a misguided attempt to protect Talia. But, overall, I thought he was great. The romance was lovely. Talia and James were so sweet together. They had a lot of depth in their relationship, from how far it stretched back and, even when a certain someone was in denial, their feelings for each other were always clear.

And, the heat between them was sensuous, though it wasn't the focus of their relationship. I thought they were a wonderful couple. The plot was fast paced and I was hooked the entire way through. There were a few twists as the dangers of working with the darker side of London caught up with Talia.

I really enjoyed the story and the ending was perfect. A Dream of Desire was a fantastic historical romance.

I loved this book and I enjoyed every bit of it, from the romance, to the thrills. Romance lovers, this is a book worth reading. My goodness, what a contrast! But whether it was keeping company with the elite, seeing business mix with pleasure, being introduced to a possible spouse or observing dastardly deeds, all the characters meld into this nail-biting story perfectly.

But this mere fact made me root for her more. Influenced by a turbulent upbringing, a protective father and brothers whose concern for her wellbeing is foremost, her goals for the less fortunate consume her.

Gorgeous and trying to outrun his past the only way he knows how; discovering the uncharted, organising expeditions and looking for solid backing is his only need. Or is it? Although the letters he sent to Tasha while travelling revealed his weird and wonderful experiences, I found his friendship with her contradictory. As a youngster, the Rushton family gave him a sense of normalcy; nevertheless, the author divulges his thoughts little by little, and to be honest, I couldn't turn the s quick enough.

The slow-burn development with all its setbacks kept me on my toes. But without victims and suspense, the plot would have fallen flat, and here Lane gave me what I yearned for in abundance.
